morning and perhaps speaking to some of the business owners that will have to spend quite a bit of money to prepare the windows. live in oakland i'm tara moriarty. president obama will be back in san francisco later today to raise money for his reelection campaign. the president will begin today in the central valley to dedicate a national monument to caesar chavez. then he will arrive in the bay area for three fundraisers. first at the intercontinental hotel. followed by two fundraisers at the bill graham auditorium. president obama attended fundraisers in los angeles yesterday. featuring a concert. the president took a jab at his own debate performance last week. he said while the singers are able to perform flawlessly night after night he can't always say the same. mitt romney meantime scheduled to deliver a foreign policy speech today at the

virginia military institute. according to his prepared remarks, he will propose a new assertive role for the u.s. in syria, more sanctions on iran, and a change in the u.s. policy in the middle east. the republican nominee will portray president obama as a weak leader. in overnight news back here in the bay area oakland police are investigating a shooting that happened just after 11:00 last night on church street. police say the victims showed up to the east mont police station in a car that was riddled with bullet holes. we don't know the victims condition this morning but so far no arrests have been made. an investigation is under way after a body was found inside a car in east oakland. the body was found at about 5:00 last night at richy and olive streets. police say it was wrapped in cloth and appeared to have been in that car for awhile. investigators have not yet said if the body is that of a man or woman.

time now 4:32. candle light vigil will be held for the herculeswoman found murdered in -- hercules woman found murdered in her home. the vigil will be held at 8:30 tonight in her neighborhood. the family is pleading with the public to help find the people that killed the 55-year-old mother and grandmother. they are asking anyone to contact police immediately if they spot the car they say was stolen from her home at the time of the murder. it's a sky blue 2011 subaru outback with idaho license plates. today california gasoline prices are setting another record. $4.67 a gallon. now governor brown is taking a step that could take prices down. they told the board to transition into winter blend gasoline now. instead of waiting until after halloween. some had transitioned to making winter blend gas so adding it to the current mix would make

more gas available around the state. relief at the pump can't come soon enough for california drivers. some have to pay for gas just to do their jobs. others say they are finding ways to cut back on how much they drive or in some cases what they drive. >> i try not to drive unless i really have to. >> i'm grateful and i only use the bike when necessary. >> many industry analysts say gas prices will go down possibly sometime this week. state regulators are cracking down on two companies that claim to be a high-tech alternative to taxis. the california public utilities commission issued a order against side car and lifts. the companies lack the required permits that make sure drivers are properly licensed, screened, and insured to carry passengers. according to a notice sent to the companies, the commission now has the right to impound cars and impose fines of up to $5,000 a day or even jail time.

now 4:34. and the streets of san francisco should start to look normal again this morning after a very busy weekend in the city. despite having more than a million visitors in town for special events things went smoothly. other events this weekend included the blue angels, castros street fair, the hardly strictly bluegrass festival the 49ers and giants were home. we'll have more on the bay area baseball teams coming up in ten minutes. you can tell it was a busy weekend in the city by looking at the traffic on the streets and crowds on the public transportation. bart broke its weekend ridership record saturday with more than 319,000 passengers. on muni it was standing room only. the passengers say despite the tight conditions, they managed to get where they needed to go. >> it's the busiest i've ever seen. >> probably the busiest i've ever seen it. >> super packed. >> it's crowded but like i said

>> sal, thank you. we have mostly clear skies. patchy low clouds. little low has been sitting out here for two weeks. 40s for many or low 50s. there is is no doubt about it the mornings the overnights are cool not much of a breeze but still an on shore out toward travis. the low is on its way. now it will be here probably tomorrow. the track looks to be right about toward the bay area and head south. this is a very weak system. if it went right over us then yeah a possibility that maybe light rain. it's the best opportunity would be tuesday into wednesday. probably the farther south you go. of course lows like this have a mind of their own sometimes. 60s, 50s. it's just a cool pattern monday and tuesday. sunny and breezy. a little cooler than yesterday's highs. cool for some, nice. but with that westerly breeze it's hard pressed to get out of the 60s. a few 70s. really kind of a close pattern here. sun and clouds. maybe a few light showers tuesday and wednesday.

yesterday morning in a car near third and mission streets. one man died at the scene police say the other man has nonlife threatening injuries. there are reports that the shooter drove off in a silver toyota rav 4 possibly with front end damage. there are conflicting reports at work stoppage. he says there -- but a workers group and chinese media says work did stop on friday and production was paralyzed. both sides agree workers are on the job today. both bay area baseball teams are on the brink of elimination from the playoffs. after last nights 9-0 loss the giants are down two games to none in their division serious against the reds. game three is tomorrow in cincinnati. the giants have to win three games if -- games in a row on

commute. we are still looking at commutes that are very nice. 80 is one of the busiest commutes early in the morning. people get on the road early and get into contra costa county and into alameda county. the traffic still looks pretty good. no problems getting across into san francisco. as we mentioned earlier in the show we should expect to see things a little bit more to normal this monday after a very crowded weekend. san jose northbound 280, northbound 101 the traffic looks good. northbound 85 near 87 a minor crash on the shoulder. let's go to steve. thank you. temperatures today will be the weekend didn't warm up that much. there was a bump up on sunday. there's a little low that has been on the coast for the longest time. two weeks. finally moving. inland temps are so cool. higher elevations are so cool. there could be a little bit around patchy low clouds. 40s for temps. i expect some of these to go

down. especially santa rosa and napa. a little bit of a sea breeze. nothing too strong. our low sitting here is getting bumped along. it needs a kicker. that is right there. but it looks like it will come to the golden gate and go right down the coast. if any shower activity develops, it will on tuesday into wednesday and probably south. more likely monterey south. highs today very cool. we'll carry that right into tuesday as well. you are looking at 50s and 60s. so sunny and breezy. a little cooler today. i don't think the coast. 60s there. not much has changed. if you're in a breeze it could be on a chilly side. definitely overnight lows. does look like partly sunny to partly cloudy. >> thank you, steve. san francisco police say many of the protestors arrested on saturday are suspected in a similar protest in the mission district last month. these are some of the 11 men and nine women police rounded

up in san francisco. officers say they wore black clothing and masks and tried to conduct a march on market street without a permit. this is video of the police moving in to arrest protestors. they are accused of trying to block the road and damaged cars and businesses. officers hit people with batons. police say the protestors struck first by throwing things at home hitting one officer in the head. >> protestors threw zip log bags of paint at officers. some of the bags of paint contained rocks. there is definitely intent to injure. >> definitely out of line. out of policy. they were just crazy. >> police say many of the protestors were in the mission district on september 20th damaging businesses and a police station with hammers and paint bombs over an officer involved shooting. time now 4:46.

a nation-wide fungal meningitis outbreak is growing. there is at least 91 confirmed cases and seven deaths. the outbreak has been linked to a steroid used to treat back pain. it was produced by a specialty pharmacy in massachusetts and has been recalled. health officials say thousands of people could receive the injections. >> if you got any kind of steroid injections between july of this year and september 28th you need to be aware of this. >> the cases have been recorded in nine states. attorneys in jerry sandusky's sex abuse case will meet with the judge today one day before he is sentenced. the former penn state assistant coach receives life in prison. san dusky is expected to speak in his own defense at the hearing. his attorney says he will not apologize and will maintain his innocence.

hugo chavez has not been reelected. his challenger promised to run venezuela as a market economy took 45% of the vote. chavez is the longest serving president in latin america. tomorrow the san francisco board of supervisors will decide the fate of suspended sheriff ross mirkarimi. nine of the 11 board members have to vote against mirkarimi in order to permanently remove him from office. this comes after mirkarimi pleaded guilty to false impresesment related to an argument in which he grabbed and bruised his wife's arm. it's 4:48. it was supposed to be a happy day for two couples in philadelphia. but violence marred the celebration. the deadly fight that broke out between parties. plus a historic launch in florida. the supplies on a private rocket headed for the international space station.

lack -- welcome back to the ktvu charge 2 morning news. one of the happiest days of a couples life turned into tragedy when two people started fighting at a wedding in a philadelphia hotel. now police were called to the

scene yesterday morning to control the massive brawl that erupted in the lobby between guests from two separate wedding parties yesterday. police say a 57-year-old man reportedly the uncle of one of the brides suffered a heart attack and died. three people were taken into custody. several others ended up in local hospitals. bay area man was among three people that died in butte county. he was swept downstream after the sand bar he was standing on gave way. also on saturday a 53-year-old man and his two-year-old child drowned in a pond outside of bigs. the child fell out of an inflatable raft. the father jumped in to save him. rescuers pulled the two out of the water but they did not survive. eight people were forced out of their home after a two alarm fire at an apartment complex. it started just before 2:30

yesterday afternoon at the village green apartments. fire officials says unit that was destroyed suffered major damage. several other apartments had smoke damage but fortunately no one was hurt. the cause of the fire still under investigation. a 21-year-old woman died after her car plunged 50 feet down a ravine in pleasanton and the california highway patrol is looking for answers as to how it all happened. it happened about 7:45 yesterday morning at the sunol boulevard off ramp. chp says leslie veered off the freeway crashing into thely seen. flores was thrown from the car and died at the scene. there is no word of any other injuries. pg&e is working to restore power after a fatal accident knocked out power to hundreds of people. police say a 28-year-old man was killed yesterday afternoon after his car hit a power pole on pleasant hill road.

651 customers were without power at the height of that outage. about a dozen customers are still without power as far as we understand. power is expected to be fully restored by 6:00 this morning. let's check back in with sal for an early look at traffic. hopefully no construction or anything on the roads this morning. >> yeah we don't have a lot of that which is good. let's take a look at the golden gate bridge and talk about that. southbound 101 traffic looks good. they are changing the lanes over so you might see some flashing lights on the bridge but traffic is light. and also doyle drive the new doyle drive is lightly traveled at this hour. this mornings commute is moving along pretty well on interstate 880 in oakland. and in san jose we are still doing very nicely on northbound 85. northbound 87 the traffic continues to look very nice on 101 as well. let's go to steve. thank you, sal. clear skies. it could be a little bit of low clouds around. the low is finally moving.
